Gone swimming

Gone swimming!  That's the sign I hung up beside my running shoes last week after breaking my baby toe.  And if running shoes could smile, I think they would have broken a grin...I've been working them hard for the past few months.

We're fortunate in having access to two pools: One in the nearby community centre that has early morning lane swimming sessions, and the other one right in our Complex.  One indoor and temperature controlled (Montgomery Pool) the other outdoor and warmed by the sun (Our Complex...that's it on the left).  And we have been blessed by the sun and hot temperatures so far this summer.

'Gone swimming' is a bit of a misnomer though. I'm a runner through-and-through so I go 'running' accross the deep area of the pools.  No I don't 'do lengths'.  I get a few strange looks for sure but I'm comfortable doing my running thing and in some cases I'm faster than some of the swimmers.

If you haven't tried water running, it's harder than it looks.  The water provides a lot of resistance and it's easy to get the heart rate up quickly.  And because you're already wet, it's tough to tell that you're sweating.

Yes I've gone swimming again...if this sticks who knows, maybe I'll give up running.

Until next time...

Drive service business back to Dealerships

As competition in paid search for new and used vehicles continues to grow more competitive, the time is ripe to drive service business back to Dealerships.  The online battleground for 'Automotive Service' includes national players down to local Mom and Pops (yes, they still exist) with varying degrees of online sofistication.  Google Local Search allows Dealerships to play effectively in this area to drive service business back to the Deaership

Automotive Digital Marketing Trends

In automotive marketing, the accelerating trend is increased digital marketing.  What it looks like is a shift to Dealerships...this is what the Consumer wants:  A more robust shopping experience where they can search for a particular vehicle easily, get their questions answered quickly and take delivery of their vehicles in a minimum amout of time
Dealerships need to keep their eyes on three things:
  1. Getting found online
  2. Being responsive to Consumer's requests for information
  3. Memorable delivery and post-sale experience

Oh no, I broke my toe!

Oh hell no, I broke my toe?  I can hear Sally now, "You should have turned on the light before you went stumbling around in the dark!"  Darn...hate it when she's right.
Baby toe, right foot.  And if you're keeping track, this is the third time I've broken bones in my right foot:  Broken Bones #1, Broken Bones #2.  This time though it really, really sucks!

I know what you're thinking...he did something stupid while running.  This time it was not a running injury, even though the result is the same:  No running until healed.  10 - 14 days according to webmd.com.  No, this happened while I was walking through the living room in the dark Monday morning.  The irony?  I was going to turn on the lamp beside the sofa when I slammed my right foot into the the wooden base of the ottoman.

Ouch!  Or rather, @$%#$%@!  I new immediately it was broken.  And what that meant to my running.

Taped up, foot up, iced on and off to keep the swelling down. No running.  I know the drill!

Until next time...
