When I first began running I simply got up, pulled on my running gear and headed out the door. No stretching, no warm up just out and into the fastest pace I could muster. I didn't know anything about technique and over trial-and-error...and some injuries...became a pretty good runner. Well, I run every day!
Fast-forward to my current state as a 'Seasoned Runner', a great phrase coined by my good friend, Dan Cumming (Running in the Zone) and it's not so simple. It takes me a good hour in the morning now to get my engine revving. I've started to do some pre-run stretching and I start off slowly as I ease into an early morning run.
I love running and want to continue for many more years. I've started to pay attention to non-running physical activities that will help make me a better runner...and reduce injuries. Viola: Yoga for Runners:

195 lbs!
195 lbs! That's what the scale showed the other morning when I stepped on it. I almost fainted! Truth be told, it was 5 lbs. less than what showed on the scale at the Doctor's Office a couple of days before. But I chalk up the 200 lbs. to it being after I'd eaten a large lunch, was fully clothed and had my dress shoes on.
195 lbs! I couldn't believe it. I run every day and watch what I eat (well, Sally does that). Perhaps the weight gain has something to do with the size of my meal portions...and the occassional salty snack treat.
195 lbs! It seems like only yesterday I was at 180 lbs. I have noticed a 'slight' increase in the waist size of the pants I've bought recently. Try as I might, I was not going to get into those size 32 pants I tried on recently. Those size 36 in 'Comfort Fit' (ie, stretchable waist) slipped on comfortably. I'd rather die before buying a pair of size 38's.
175 lbs...that's the weight goal. Some behaviour changes are in order to get down to 175 lbs. by December. I need to lose those 20 lbs. and shave a couple of inches off my waist the better to show off my abs in the 'Ab Showdown with Larry Savitch in December'. That's the goal...now the action.
Until next time...

Buying a Car Online
I love shopping for a new car online. OK, maybe it's because I love cars...always have...but I can spend literally hours on automotive manufacturer web sites building and configuring my perfect new car. I'll also spend time looking at a Dealer's inventory to see what they have in-stock that comes closest to matching what I want. Once I've decided, it's off to the Dealership to test drive.
If that sounds like a typical consumer experience then I'm part of the increasing trend in the automobile buying journey. And it's a growing trend as online usage grows broader and deeper. I wonder what the process of buying a new car will be like when the Internet of Things connects me directly with the Connected Car?
